The North Atlantic Coast in Costa Rica is quite the place to visit.  This Caribbean region has remained pristine and unspoiled thanks to the lack of roadways.  Many people may ask why not exploit the area’s incredible beauty and biodiversity by building roadways while others will agree that the charm and beauty remains is enhanced by remaining hidden in the jungle.

The town and canals of Tortuguero are a ‘must see’ for any tourist visiting Costa Rica.  The area is located in the tropical rain forest and offers guests a spectacle of nature at its best.  Tortuguero can only be reached by air or by river thus enhancing its natural attraction.

It is recommended that when planning your visit to Tortuguero, you arrange this either at the beginning of your trip or at the end in order to make the best out of your vacations.  There are three ways to reach Tortuguero via boat.  The most common acces is via Caño Blanco near the town of Siquirres.  The boat ride from Caño Blanco is around 50 minutes and costs approximately US$3 per person.  The other two access points are from La Pavona and Moin in Limon.  This last one is much further and the boat ride takes some 3 ½ hours.
