The community of Nosara in Costa Rica’s North Pacific Coast has announced its first ever Music Festival that is scheduled to take place Saturday January 31st, 2009.  A total of three local bands will be performing starting 3pm at the Hotel Tierra Magnifica.

The event has been named the “Caricaco Music Festival” in honor of the hermit crab that is commonly spotted at Nosara and Guiones.  Among the performers will be Kurt Dyer and his band that play rock and blues both in English and Spanish.  Jippo has also confirmed its participation and will entertain guests with its fusion of Latin Ska.

Entrance fee will be 5,000 colones (about US$10) and will allow guests to enjoy the performances as well as the hotel’s open space and beautiful view of the ocean.  For those who are staying at nearby hotels in the Nosara and Guiones area, there will be a bus service from the various Costa Rica hotels in the area and the Tierra Magnifica Hotel where the event will take place.

The organizers behind the Caricaco Music Festival have also announced that Saturday’s event will be sort of a pilot plan for a much larger event planned for next year.  The Music Festival planned for 2010 will be a novelty among the locals as well as visitors.  The organization is planning a massive music festival at which all the electricity used will come from alternative energy sources.

These energy sources will include solar power, wind energy and even human pedaling energy.  The event will have a number of stationary bikes at the event’s location where the public may jump on the bike and contribute to the generation of energy with the sweat of their brow.

So for those who will be in the Nosara or Guiones area for the weekend, make sure you stop by and take place in this first ever event.
