The traditional marimba and folklore music will take over the province of Guanacaste on Saturday, July 25th as this northern pacific region celebrates 184 years of having voluntarily joined Costa Rica in 1824.

The Guanacaste Annexation Celebration is a nationwide celebration and official holiday. Thousands of Costa Ricans and tourists flock to this province where the traditional festivities offer a little something for everyone.

From the folkloric northern marimba music to international performers, visitors to Guanacaste will certainly have a handful of entertainment options. In Liberia, the capital of Guanacaste, a number of activities such as Costa Rican bullfights, fashion shows, dances and concerts will be taking place on the weekend of the 25th.

A very popular event, especially among the younger crowd, that has taken place for the past 10 years is the “Fiesta de los Espinar”. This event is held at the Delicias Ranch located at 3 kilometers from Liberia.

Every year, the organizers of this massive event invite international and national performers that entertain over 10,000 guests. This year, the organization has announced that they will be bringing in the Reggeaton performer, Tito El Bambino. El Bambino will be flying in from Miami with his tour named “El Patron”.

In addition to reggaeton, the public will be entertained by several local and international DJ’s that will be bringing the electronic mood to this party. Among the DJ’s will be Sweet Bo, Orias, Vega, John Scholt, Solon Sirias and many others.

Guanacaste gets pretty busy during this festive weekend so if you are planning on heading out to the North Pacific during the weekend of the 25th, make sure you book your hotel ahead of time. Costa Rica hotels in Guanacaste are abundant and lodging can be found from as low as $40 a night.
