Bahia Del Sol is absolutely one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. The hotel has an amazing view! It has the best view in Playa Potrero hands down. You can see the sunset over the open Pacific when you look in one direction and distant twinkling lights over the harbour when you look in the other direction. The hotel also has very exclusive beach access.
We had the beach all to ourselves! The best part about this hotel was the service. The staff was so kind and genuine. They were always on the ball whether it was making the perfect mango margarita or having our room decorated with tropical flowers. The food was amazing! The freshest fish I’ve ever eaten in my life, seasoned to perfection. Bahia del Sol is truly a treasure. I can’t wait to return and see all the friendly faces and gorgeous scenery again.

My husband, two teenage daughters and I traveled to Bahia del Sol for Spring Break. The resort was clean, the grounds were nice. The main pool was big and lighted at night. We stayed in a Double Suite. It was spacious and had a full size refrigerator, stove, well, fully equipped kitchen.
The staff were friendly and very helpful. Most of them spoke English. Probably one of the best vacations we’ve taken. Lots to do or nothing to do…your choice. We did the Congo Trail Canopy tour..zip lines through the trees, went horseback riding down the beach and up to a mountain lookout and went on a snorkeling tour. All activities went smoothly and are suitable for families. My husband and 15 yr. old daughter studied PADI diving before our trip, then did their testing in the pool and ocean with the on-site dive center…(arranged ahead of our trip).
They were able to take 3 other dives and saw sharks, killer whales, and huge devil rays. The dive instructor took underwater photos and put them on a disk for us to take home. The rest of our time was divided between the pool and the beach. We had a great time walking the beach, picking up shells, playing in the sand, body surfing and watching the incredible sunsets. It was fun sitting there watching the few vendors set up for the day. The food there was adequate and convenient… small local restaurants close by, so…The Golden Shrimp, located up the coast will send a car to pick you up (arrange through the front desk) and is a fun experience as your table literally is sitting in the sand just feet away from the surf.
My favorite thing about this vacation was that you felt you were in a remote tropical paradise. No glitz or glam anywhere. We could wear wet hair and beach cover-ups over our bathing suits to lunch and didn’t spend much more time getting ready for dinner. (Enjoyed not waiting 2 hours for 2 teenagers to shower, dry and straighten hair).
We really overpacked since we wore our bathing suits most of the time. This truly was a beach vacation and I honestly don’t think you could find a better value or a more beautiful beach!

I stayed at Bahia del Sol with two friends last April.
SERVICE: No problems with the staff. We arrived at the hotel around 1:30pm and our room was ready. Some days the room was clean by noon; other days by 4-5pm. Staff were always smiling and language was never a problem. We tipped the maid $2 US/day.
ROOM: We had a room facing the pool very clean and beds were very comfy, bathroom was perfect. No problems with plumbing or bugs whatsoever. You could hear the sound of waves crashing as you fell asleep and awoke each morning. The bar plays loud music until about 10pm, but no problems with noisy neighbors.
BEACH/POOL: Gorgeous sunsets! Never had a problem getting a chair, even on the weekends. Waves are very powerful and the Pacific seems extra salty. You can also rent boogie boards and snorkel gear for free 1 hour/day.
FOOD: Typical of what’s expected for an Costa Rican hotels, just perfect and delicious. We had a vegetarian in our group and she never had a problem finding something to eat off the menu. One nice perk is you can ask for bottled water to take with you for the rest of your day. This was a big help for our excursions so we didn’t have to buy water outside the resort.
DRINKS: The bartender at the pool bar was our favorite. Drinks were pretty strong in our opinion.
Again, to summarize, Hotel Bahia del Sol was a lovely place to stay, and we plan to come back again next year. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food and drinks were generally excellent. If you’re an American used to the busy hustle-and-bustle of the daily grind, the biggest adjustment you’re going to have to make is that you’re FORCED to slow down here. Everything goes at a slower pace, including service at the restuarants and bars. GO WITH IT!!!! That’s what vacation is all about, right?

We just returned from our stay at Bahia del Sol — we had a wonderful time. We were supposed to stay at another hotel but they overbooked (due to Easter Weekend) and transferred us to Bahia del Sol. It is a beautiful hotel. The rooms were perfect and the service and the view made it better. The hotel was not crowded so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. The service was great - everyone was so nice.
