Why Drive When you Can Fly to the Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin

Unless you are the type of person who enjoys the changing scenery and gradual climate change when driving from one place to another, a great alternative to get from San Jose to Liberia is by air travel.

Costa Rican Domestic airlines offer a very comfortable rate for flying from San Jose to the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, Guanacaste.  For as low as US$55 each way, tourists are able to cut down travel time by 4 hours when choosing to fly to Guanacaste.

The Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin is located at just 30 minutes from the Liberia Airport thus allowing visitors to arrive much quicker and have more time to enjoy the variety of activities offered at the Hacienda.

The Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin is located at the base of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano and National Park.  The trail known as Las Pailas is near the Hacienda and offers great sightseeing and exiting volcanic attractions.

A hike though Las Pailas will allow visitors to experience the boiling mud pots locally called volcancitos or little volcanoes.  These medium sized holes in the ground resemble a miniature volcano complete with lava-like mud and the occasional bubbling and spurting of mud.

Other natural attractions include steaming vents, interesting vegetation and wildlife as well as refreshing waterfalls.

Back at the Hacienda, the Adventure Tours operator will be waiting with a variety of activities for you to choose from.  Be it if you prefer a relaxing horse back ride to one of the fascinating waterfalls or lookout points or the adrenaline pumping white water tubing and zip lining, the Adventure Tours at the Hacienda Guachipelin has a little something for everyone.

The colonial town of Granada in Nicaragua is a hidden historic and architectural gem located at just 3 hours from Guanacaste in Costa Rica.  A great way to experience two similar yet different cultures in two different countries is to take a short side trip to Nicaragua while in Guanacaste.

Although the amount of activities and beaches in Guanacaste are abundant, for those who like to maximize their vacations, a three hour drive to Granada in Nicaragua will unveil a different culture, architecture and tradition.

Tourists to Granada will enjoy the beauty of its plazas, churches, castles, culture and cobble-stone streets.  Close by is the Lake Nicaragua as well as the Isletas which consists of over 300 small islands created by the eruption of the Mombacho Volcano 20,000 years ago.

A tour to the Mombacho Volcano is just a 15-minute drive and is a must-see while in the region.  The peak of the volcano has the distinction of being covered both by rainforest and dwarf forest thus giving visitors a unique experience.

Back on the Costa Rica side, in Liberia, a trip to the Hacienda Guachipelin will allow visitors to continue with their nature-oriented adventure by visiting the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano and National Park.  Boiling mud pots, steaming vents, hot spring waters and several kilometers of vegetation, rivers and waterfalls will keep visitors in awe.
