We very much enjoyed the Cala Luna. Check in was quick and easy and it was small enough not to be a big deal to run to the room for something you may have forgotten after you arrived for a meal or at the pool.

The people were very friendly and there was always someone close by if there was a language barrier. The pool area could use some more lounge chairs - there always seemed to be a shortage.

The food was great, sushi superb and the desserts were spectacular - haven’t had such good desserts since the Tamarin in Aruba.

I felt safe at the Villas and security immediately stopped people coming on to the property.

I would definitely recommend this beautiful Cala Luna to anyone.

The Cala Luna hotel is the spot! Set on a perfect place, beautifully landscaped grounds with amenities you’d find at top resorts. Once you enter the lobby, you quickly forget the dusty infrastructure of Tamarindo.

It has a large pool, and all the Villas with a private pool, sooooooooo nice, the open air restaurant adjacent to it, just beautiful.

The information desk was staffed all day; they seemed knowledgeable about just about any travel or day trips in the area.

We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms which has a patio terrace, a/c, fans, fully equipped bathroom with hairdryer, satellite TV, telephone and private safe. The room was well appointed, good bed and furniture, nice bath and a sitting area a few steps down. Monkeys occupied the trees outside our balcony from time to time.
Beside the surf, sounds from the pool and bar reached up into the room; however with the exception of one of our 5 nights, it quieted down by 9pm or so.

The included breakfast was quite generous; a great way to start the day.

It has a great location, away from Tamarindo’s bar scene, which is accessible by an easy beach walk for those that seek a little nightlife.

My girlfriend and I stayed in a beautiful cabin, and we loved it! The staff was extremely attentive and helpful. I really don’t care for boring hotel rooms that look the same and have furniture that was mass produced in China. The design of the bungalow and the furniture was beautiful and unique. The bathroom was huge. We woke up to the sounds of birds chirping in the morning. Plenty of iguanas and red squirrels running around. At night, we saw very cute and shy raccoons eating bananas which were left out at night for them.

It was nice to be away from the center of town. Surfing wasn’t as crowded. We were able to enjoy a romantic candlelight dinner next ot the beautiful pool. To get to the all the shopping and crowds, it was a very short walk on the beach.

That was an absolutely fabulous vacation! We are DEFINITELY going to come back to Tamarindo some day. In my opinion, the absolutely BEST place to stay in Tamarindo is the Cala Luna!

My wife and I just got back a couple of days ago from Cala Luna. We loved everything about Tamarindo and this resort. The pool, besides the one in every villa, the grounds, the beach side location/views. The staff, the food, the drinks. Everything. We wouldn’t have changed a thing.

The bartender was very friendly and fun to talk to. Even all of the guests hung out together. So much fun. We ate every lunch at the hotel, and everything was very delicious. We did have one dinner here when we didn’t go into town, and it too was very good.

Like I said, the price, the location, staff, pool, food, grounds … everything was great!

Cala Luna was a fabulous place. Nice, clean and right on the beach! We had a sunset view room with views of the beach, water and beautiful trees. Be careful as they also have a part of the hotel across the street which has a very nice pool with swim up bar, but is not on the beach if that is what you prefer.

Food was excellent. Staff very helpful. Many excursions that you can set up! My husband took surfing lessons right out if front of our room! This is a high class place, a bit more expensive but I think worth it. Right in town. Kind of touristy though, but we didn’t mind at all. Definitely would recommend.
