We very much enjoyed the Cala Luna. Check in was quick and easy and it was small enough not to be a big deal to run to the room for something you may have forgotten after you arrived for a meal or at the pool.

The people were very friendly and there was always someone close by if there was a language barrier. The pool area could use some more lounge chairs - there always seemed to be a shortage.

The food was great, sushi superb and the desserts were spectacular - haven’t had such good desserts since the Tamarin in Aruba.

I felt safe at the Villas and security immediately stopped people coming on to the property.

I would definitely recommend this beautiful Cala Luna to anyone.

Chorotega Arts and Crafts Fair From Thursday July 10th through Sunday July 13th, the province of Guanacaste will host its IV Guanacaste Cultural Fair.

The event will take place in the town of San Vincente in Nicoya Guanacaste. The activities will be the responsibility of the community who over the past years has prepared typical foods, masquerades, dance with live music and much more. One of the most popular activities is the Chorotega Arts and Crafts EcoMuseum.

The Chorotega arts and crafts are mainly comprised of hand painted pottery made mostly by the local women. The region keeps the traditions of their ancestors for many generations. Pots are strictly hand made and do not use any modern tools. Not even a device to turn the table while the pots are being made. Pots are then hand painted with earthy terracotta colors.

Paintings still resemble those seen from the pre-Columbian period and include birds, butterflies and other local wildlife. Other activities that will be carried out during this cultural event will be artistic presentations, conferences, popular town dance, concerts, workshops and sport activities.

Other indigenous communities throughout Costa Rica such as the Boruca, Curré and Térraba have been inspired by the Chorotega community and are seeking to follow in their footsteps and create their own cultural museums.
