My husband and three daughters (6, 8 and 11) stayed here for three nights, and it was hard to leave! The view from our back patio was spectacular. I believe that all the cabins have a “volcano view. It is so very beautiful and peaceful there. We did have a talk and demonstration by the Maleku Indians. They have a hut set down beyond the dining hall in the woods where this was conducted. They had masks, gourd paintings and other native crafts for sale.

The dinners are buffet style. The food was good, based on other places we ate on the trip. As with all Costa Rican dinners, there’s always beans and rice, usually was a meat and fish, fresh fruit, vegetables, and at least one cooked vegetable. Desserts in Costa Rica are things like rice pudding, flan,

Our tour guide did our nature hike, which was through the wooded area of the lodge, pretty rough terrain…I had a pair of walking poles which were useful(over 65), should not be a problem for you and your family. We did a kayak trip on the lake, had visited the hot springs on the way from San Jose, and a float trip on Rio Tenorio.

The birds at the feeders outside the dining room were great at breakfast. The dining room is far down hill from the lodging, so expect some hiking.

As first time vacationers to the City of Limon, our stay at the Hotel Colon Caribe was exceptional.
The Hotel management and staff went out of their way to accommodate all our requests and needs, which were greatly appreciated. They willingly arranged tours/sightseeing and transportation for us. The tropical setting of the Hotel with its many coconut trees, tropical foliage, beach front and Caribean breeze enhanced the peaceful setting.
Management of the Hotel were constantly vigilant to ensure our comfort and enjoyment.
We wish to thank all the staff, from the resturant, bar, housekeeping and management for making our stay a happy one.

My girlfriend and I stayed in a beautiful cabin, and we loved it! The staff was extremely attentive and helpful. I really don’t care for boring hotel rooms that look the same and have furniture that was mass produced in China. The design of the bungalow and the furniture was beautiful and unique. The bathroom was huge. We woke up to the sounds of birds chirping in the morning. Plenty of iguanas and red squirrels running around. At night, we saw very cute and shy raccoons eating bananas which were left out at night for them.

It was nice to be away from the center of town. Surfing wasn’t as crowded. We were able to enjoy a romantic candlelight dinner next ot the beautiful pool. To get to the all the shopping and crowds, it was a very short walk on the beach.

That was an absolutely fabulous vacation! We are DEFINITELY going to come back to Tamarindo some day. In my opinion, the absolutely BEST place to stay in Tamarindo is the Cala Luna!
